MyMagic+ and Fastpass+

Disney’s new MyMagic+ is a great way to decrease running around time while your on your vacation, however it does require more preperation before you leave.

Fastpass+ is part of this new system. Don’t worry about having to run to get your Fastpass when the park opens, because now you can just book them ahead of time on Disney’s website.

When you book your Fastpasses, you will get to customize your Magic Bands. Everyone in your party gets one, and they are your room key, your Fastpasses, your Photo Pass and your ticket to the parks. You can even get your debit connected to your band so you don’t have to worry about bringing your money to the parks. Just tap your band and off you go! (You still need to enter your PIN number if your band is connected to your debit.)

*Note that the Magic Bands are available only to guests staying at Disney resorts. Guests who are not staying at Disney resorts must still book Fastpasses in advance.*

You will be given your Magic Band when you check in to your Disney Resort, and you can start to book your Fastpasses 90 days in advance.

Walt Disney World is the only location that is doing this system currently, but Disneyland Califorina is suppose to start testing it this summer. Hong Kong  is scheduled to start it in 2016.

      • If you arrive at the park as soon as it opens (& check for Extra Magic Hours if your staying on Disney property) then you can basically get on almost any ride with little to no wait. Since your doing MK two days, you can watch the parade one day, and the other day do some of the rides while most people watch the parade. Fantasyland is especially quiet during the parade. I would suggest getting a FP for those rides the line is still really long even in the mornings. Peter Pan, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Dwarves Mine Train, Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, the Princess Fairytale Hall (princess meet & greet & Elsa & Anna meet & greet), and Splash Mountain (usually pretty quiet first thing, but you might want to do it when it’s really hot out) are all rides with really long waits all day. There are others that can get quite long in the afternoon (like Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Winnie the Pooh) but you can usually find a time when it’s not too long of a wait.

    • You should also download the My Disney Experience app. It allows you to change your Fastpasses on your phone while your at the parks. So if you have a Fastpass for Sapceship Earth and there’s only a 5 min wait, and the stand by line for the Finding Nemo ride is 45 min, then you can change it right then and there.

  1. I LOVE the new Magic Bands!!! Being able to wear your room key, park admission ticket, Fast Pass, and Photo Pass on your wrist is brilliant! Plus, I love having the option to charge all purchases (from lemonade slush to trading pins) to my room as I travel through the parks.
